Healthy Morning Ritual: Start your day as a true yogi or yogini!

According to yoga the best is to wake up early in the morning a few minutes before 6 am. Before starting the new day of your life there are a few cleansing steps to perform to live the day at your best capacity.

Drinking water

Drinking waterAfter waking up, do not hurry to jump out of the bed immediately. First of all thank God mentally for the day you are about to live, for the possibility you have to help people and enjoy life. Then proceed to drinking water.

The human body accumulates toxins constantly, one of the reasons being that, as people eat various food combinations, which do not match each other and most often are not healthy.

The gastrointestinal tract is a very important part of our system. When it is working properly it can digest food quickly and we feel great.  By drinking a glass of pure water as soon as we wake up, we activate our stomach, and by consequence, we awaken the whole system naturally. For this practice you should have your own individual glass of water of about 0.2-0.25 lt. capacity. Starting from today, fill it up each evening with pure water, cover it and put it in a place not too close to your sleeping place, and where it can keep room temperature.

When you wake up, sit in your bed, with your back to the north, drink the water in tiny sips, mixing it with saliva as thoroughly as possible (approximately 5 minutes per glass).

Our saliva contains all the bacteria needed for our gastrointestinal tract proper functioning.

During this procedure you can tune in with the cleansing and healing power of water. After you have drunk the water this way, fill up the glass once more, cover it and leave it till the evening in the same place.

This will help you to recover the health of your stomach and pancreas, and ultimately, the entire system!

Washing face

Washing faceUse cool water. Put your hands to the wrists under water, feeling its coolness, and perform the movement ‘one hand washes the other’ (3 times). Take then some water in your palms and moisten your forehead (3 times) and the ears starting first with the left and, then, to the right ear. Splash your face with some water (3 times) and, last, wash the whole of your face.

Brushing teeth

The tooth brush must be neither hard nor soft. After placing the toothpaste on it, perform the following movements:

1. Upper teeth line: brush from 10 to 20 times with movements parallel to the teeth, back and forth in the following three places (from the right, from the left and in the front).

2. Lower line: the same.

3. Upper line: brush in the same number of movement as before, but this time perpendicularly to the teeth.

4. Lower line: the same.

Do not worry if the gums are swollen in some places and a little blood appears in the mouth, as this indicates accumulation of blood. It is good that there is some bleeding and that the excess blood goes, as this means that the teeth will not become ill.

5. Repeat as above in the inner part of the teeth.

6. Brush gently the space between the cheeks and teeth, from the top and from below.

7. Massage with your finger the gums parallel to the dental line: both from the external and the internal side, and with circle movements from the front.

8. Rinse your mouth.

Cleansing nose

Prepare a glass of water at room temperature. Mix it with salt in the proportion of 1/4 tea spoons to one glass.

Take the salted water into your palm, close one nostril with your finger and inhale the water through the other nostril. Collect the water in your mouth and spit it. Do the same with another nostril. Alternating nostrils use up all the water in the glass.

If you swim in the sea and immerse your head in the water, especially when there are waves, you have basically already done this practice.
